Dr. Pan received her Ph.D. in Gerontology from Miami University, Ohio and M.D. in Internal Medicine from Shanxi University of TCM, China. Dr. Pan’s research focuses on aging and cognitive function, dementia prevention and management, health disparities, and health promotion using advanced quantitative methods and large-scale population data. I have carried out several research projects to examine social, behavioral, and environmental determinants of cognitive function in late adulthood including the impact of social engagement (e.g., volunteering and grandparenting), the household secondhand smoke, pain management, and the neighborhood (i.e., social, natural, and built-in) environments on cognitive function in middle-aged and older adults by analyzing the data of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) and the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) in the United States. Additionally, I carried out intervention research to investigate the effect of psychosocial programs on racial/ethnic minority dementia caregiver health and well-being in the United States.
